Our mission
We believe the best first dates start with the lights going down. BigScreen Date exists to take the pressure out of meeting someone new by putting a great movie between two people instead of an interrogation over coffee.
Our mission is simple: make first dates easier, safer and a lot more fun — by matching people on the things they actually love to do together, starting with the films they can't wait to see and the food they'll argue about afterwards.
Why the movies?
Traditional first dates ask two strangers to perform for an hour straight. A movie does the opposite. For two hours you share an experience side by side, the nerves have somewhere to go, and when the credits roll you walk out with a built-in conversation: the twist, the ending, the soundtrack, the scene that made one of you jump.
It's also one of the safest first dates there is — a public, well-lit place with staff on hand and a clear start and end time.
How we match people
Instead of endless swiping on photos, BigScreen Date matches you on what you'd really be doing together:
- Movies — the genres you love, when you like to go and where you like to sit.
- Food — the cuisines you crave and what you'd want to do after the movie.
- Distance — everyone sets a search radius, and we only introduce two people when each is inside the other's radius, so nobody gets matched with someone a two-hour drive away.
What we stand for
- Respect first. Every member verifies their email, and we act quickly on reports of bad behavior.
- Your privacy matters. We only show your first name, age, city and distance — never your exact location.
